John Renesch
Consulting Faculty - Center for Leadership Studies – Author, Editor, Philosopher and Entrepreneur

John Renesch sees the “conscious organization” as a continually self-examining organism committed to raising the level of its awareness. In the MAOL Renesch focuses on conscious leadership. His chosen discipline springs from a conviction that society and communities can be more functional than they are at present, and such improvement can only come about through some sort of paradigm shift—one that will require the efforts of enlightened, conscious leaders.

“Conscious leadership is about leading, but not leading the way we’re used to leading,” Renesch explains. “It isn’t leading by force, intimidation, or because we’re appointed. It’s leading because you see what needs to be done and stepping in and doing it.”

Too often, Renesch explains, leaders deliver the behavior that they assume the system demands rather than the behavior that will make them inspirational and effective leaders of others. A real leader, Renesch says, isn’t someone who manages to keep his nose clean and rise to the top of the organization, but the person who sees what is needed and has the courage to provide it and not worry about appearances, acting instead on what they know to be intrinsically right.

Throughout years of research and experiences with organizations and leadership, Renesch has found that the most effective way to affect and sustain breakthroughs within an organization is through honoring the perspectives and skills that each member of the group brings to the table.

“They bring experiences, a background, an interest that’s a little different than the other. It’s not a question of who’s the appointed leader and who sees everything through,” says Renesch. “Working in tandem you’ll get more out of the experience and organization and everyone will feel like they’re really engaged.”

Renesch is a global futurist, writer and keynote speaker on topics that integrate business, human consciousness and visionary scenarios for the future of humanity. John is a leading writer and thinker on matters of social transformation.
